在MACROMEDIA2003財政年第3季度的總結(jié)報告的第32節(jié)里，我們第一次從官方途徑知道了開發(fā)代號為Royale的新軟件，一個與FLASH不同的，為程序員設(shè)計的制做FLASH的服務(wù)器軟件："A major new server initiative that is targeted towards application developers who want to use Flash. Today they all use the same tool(s). Later on this year a next generation of tool code named Royale will hit the market and we think enable a whole new segment of the population to work very productively with Flash"
在剛剛結(jié)束的FlashForward上，MACROMEDIA的工程師向觀眾展示了Royale。展示中的FLASH表格，完全由XML格式的代碼生成，并且同時支持數(shù)據(jù)綁定（SOAP)、actionscript、CSS等生成方式。限于MACROMEDIA的軟件保護原則，我們對新軟件所知的只有這么多。
MACROMEDIA的CEO，Rob Burgess在接受采訪中透露：“If you're a hardcore programmer, you really want a tool to use in a server environment, especially as content merges with logic in next-generation applications, like the Watergate Hotel application I mentioned earlier. To put it another way, programmers aren't visual; they want code.
